Weatherization Assistance Program
The Weatherization Assistance Program helps low income eligible families reduce their energy consumption and overall energy bills through the installation of cost-effective energy conservation measures such as:
- Air leakage reduction measures
- Hot water pipe wrap
- Attic insulation and ventilation
- Other measures to improve the efficiency of the heating system and reduce overall energy consumption
The specific measures installed on eligible homes are based on the condition and design of the dwelling and are further directed through blower door guided air-sealing.
Program applications are accepted and services are offered on a first-come/first-served basis from the program’s “waiting list”. Carbon County homeowners and renters who meet specific income requirements are eligible for the program. Signed “Homeowner Permission” forms are required. A signed “Landlord Agreement” is also required for renters. Program eligibility is based upon a household’s total gross annual income for the 12 months preceding the date of application.
- Income Eligibility Guidelines are subject to change without notice as per funding source mandate
Some income exclusions may apply. Anyone in need of Weatherization Assistance or requiring more information should contact the Carbon County Action Committee Office at (610) 377-6400 Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 p.m.
Weatherization Assistance is made possible through the US Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program and the US Department of Health & Human Services’ Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program administered thru the PA Department of Community & Economic Development.
